What can I expect after a Sculptra treatment?

Sculptra treatment restores your volume by filling in well defined wrinkles, creases and areas of soft tissue loss with poly-L-lactic acid. Your skin will appear to look smoother and firmer. It also provide excellent results when used in the nasolabia folds and the cheeks and the best of all, results will last for at least 24 months.

Results of a Sculptra treatment will not be effective immediately, as it stimulates the natural collagen under your skin and would gradually increase your skin thickness. The expected appearance would be visible at the end of 2 months. Once you have undergone a Sculptra treatment our cosmetic physician at Cheshire Cosmetic Ltd would request you to make an appointment in few weeks to decide if any retouches would be needed.

Depending on your skin type you may require 3 to 6 treatment sessions, however our cosmetic physician would decide as to how many sessions you need to attend. Sculptra injections are administered after applying topical or local anaesthetic to reduce the pain.

Immediately after the treatment session you may experience redness, swelling, pain, bruising or all o these signs and will wear off within the first few hours or within the first few days considering your skin type. Listed below are some of the basic aftercare tips:

• Massage the treated area few times each day

• Within the first 24 hours after Sculptra treatment, apply an ice pack for a few minutes at a time to the treated area. This would help reduce swelling.

• Wrap the ice in a cloth. Avoid putting ice directly on your skin.

• Avoid excessive sun and UV lamp exposure until initial swelling and redness has reduced.

• Immediately inform the cosmetic physician about any long-lasting symptoms or signs

Are the results from Sculptra visible immediately?

No. Sculptra will take some time to gradually increase your skin condition, diminishing lines and wrinkles on your face. When you have the first Sculptra treatment, you will see instant changes in your skin due to the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptra. However in a few days, you may return to your earlier position, when the swelling goes down and the water is absorbed by the body. The results from Sculptra will start gradually over the time.

Do I have to have a skin test before Sculptra treatments?

No skin test needed. But your doctor will observe your skin condition prior to the treatment.

Normally, How many Sculptra treatments are needed to see significant results?

It depends on your condition. If you have severe facial fat loss, you may need 3-6 Sculptra treatments. Your Doctor will decide how many treatment you need and the amount of Sculptra you need.

How long does the Sculptra treatment results last for?

This also depends on the individual. In general, the Sculptra treatments results last for up to 2 years. This is after the first treatment. Sometimes, your doctor may advise you to have touchup treatments to maintain the desired effect.

Is Sculptra treatment painful?

Sculptra is an injection into your face with a very fine needle, it may hurt but just as much as other injections do. Most doctors apply local anesthetic before the treatment in order to reduce the sensitivity to pain.

What are the possible side effects of Sculptra Treatment?

Bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising and swelling can result after the treatment. These side effects normally do not last longer than a few hours.
