One of the most irritating skin conditions to deal with can be blackheads. There is a    tendency of you trying to squeeze it out as it makes your face untidy. But did you know that blackheads are not a sign of your skin being dirty? Blackheads are caused by the excessive oil produced inside your pores which is blocked from surfacing out and once it reaches the surface it oxidises and makes the point black.

Squeezing them out would not help you in the long run as you would end up having a face full of scars. Numerous products are readily available, but they always do not give you a proper solution. However there are a few non surgical cosmetic treatments that can come in handy to get rid of your blackheads. The next few paragraphs would provide you information on the effectiveness of them.

Microdermabrasion which is used to smooth wrinkles and fine lines on your face can assist in eliminating blackheads. The procedure would take only 30 minutes and can be done even in your lunch break. The treatment includes buffing and smoothing your facial skin using crystals.

Chemical Peels can also be used to treat blackheads as it removes the top layer of your skin which in return assists the blackheads to come off easily. Your cosmetic physician would most probably use a deep chemical peel known as Phenol chemical peel. Once the top layer of skin is removed an AHA peel will be used to clear off the blackheads from your skin. This would dissolve the upper layer of your skin and lightly penetrate the skin by clearing your pores and unplugging the blackhead.

Acne can be controlled and treated using many skin care products but did you ever think of a product to remove the acne scars that are left behind? Not to worry, Dermaroller® is here to treat those nasty scars. Scars are formed due to loss/ damage of facial tissue and make it more visible when there is a lack of collagen in your skin.

For the benefit of every one let me explain what Dermaroller® is. As a recognised medical device, Dermaroller® comprises of microscopic needle columns. It is a hand-held device, which can be used to roll over the dermis to cause strategic damage to the skin. This strategic damage stimulates a repair process which leads to form new collagen and improves the blood supply of your skin. The result being improved skin texture and volume.

Dermaroller® includes different needle sizes depending on the treatment requirement; it ranges from 0.25mm – 3.0mm.  Your cosmetic physician would assess your skin and select the best needle size to treat your skin. However keep in mind that the maximum needle length that is recommended for facial treatment is 1.5 mm.

The treatment follows few easy steps. Your cosmetic physician would cleans your skin and apply local anaesthetic cream for comfort. The Dermaroller® is then applied to your dermis twice in 6 directions. Once the procedure ends your skin would look sunburnt with tiny areas of pinpoint bleeding. This feeling will settle within the first 2 – 3 hours. Your cosmetic physician would apply Chiroxy cream to your skin to improve healing.

So why wait, visit Cheshire Cosmetic Ltd today to get your Dermaroller® treatment done. Our medical officer Dr Raj Acquilla is a well reputed cosmetic physician who has over 7 years experience in performing medical aesthetics in cosmetic dermatology.

If you have an acne problem, it is common for you to have blemishes. Blemishes are unique and they appear in different sizes, shapes and colours on the skin surface. Skin tone and texture can change on any part of the body due to blemishes.

Temporary blemishes – such as rashes, warts and calluses – can generally be treated by over-the-counter creams with medicinal properties; however permanent blemishes – such as birthmarks, skin tags and scars – must be removed through surgery.

Almost all blemishes are harmless, painless and benign, some even arguably add character.

The following are some of the most common skin blemishes:

Birthmarks, Blisters, Calluses, Cellulite, Corns, Dark Circles, Diaper Rash, Freckles, Irritated Skin Moles, Razor Burn, Scars, Skin Discoloration, Skin Rash, Skin Tags, Stretch Marks and Warts.

Treatments for skin blemishes

Effective for treatment of pigmentation and mild depressed scarring. Might require, 2 to 3 separate procedures.

Effective for pigmentation and improves mild / moderate depressed scarring. Usually requires 5-6 treatments.

Used to lift depressed scars and stimulate collagen production.

Thousands of microscopic needle columns stimulate skin repair including new collagen formation and improved skin texture.

  • Microdermabrasion

Using a vacuum and crystals to remove the surface layer of skin cells will be useful for rejuvenation but unlikely to help with deeper scarring.

We grab any and every product which is available in the local department store to get rid of it. What is frightening about these products are that they can cause more damage to our skin.
It is advisable for you to consult a dermatologist at this instance before even thinking of utilising cheap products that would cause more complications on your skin.

What is Acne?
Acne is a general term used for eruptive disease of the skin. Though there are several types of Acne, the most common condition is known to be Acne Vulgaris. There 3 broad categories of acne scaring:

Acne is a very common disease amongst teenagers and adults.  People are easily depressed when they encounter this type of skin condition.  The below skin care advice may help you control acne.

1. Wash your face gently

At least twice a day gently wash your face. Washing once in the morning and evening is recommended. However, over washing especially areas where the acne spreads will not help get rid of acne. Instead, it will only worsen the condition by increasing dryness of the skin.  Use a separate clean towel to wipe your face at all times to avoid any bacterial infection.

2. Facial steaming

Steam your face at least once a week; steaming will help unclog the pores. Add a little tea tree oil into the boiled water.  Steam for at least 5 minutes; this will give you better results. After you are done leave your face sprinkled with cold water.

3. Do not touch the effected skin area.

Any contact with the effected skin area will make the acne spread. If you have an urge to do so, be sure to use clean hands and avoid using your finger tips for squeezing the spots. Use sterilized needle to pop them.

4. Cosmetics and Hair Products

Use oil free cosmetics as much as possible as it will help to control acne. If you are a regular user of makeup, completely remove all make up before you go to bed. This practice will help you control acne to a certain level.

5. Avoid excessive direct sun light

Exposing yourself too much to direct sun light may influence your acne condition. Some types of skin are very sensitive and some medications used for acne also may react when heavily exposed to direct light.
